ASHLAND, Ky. -- The women's tennis program at Shawnee State got competitive efforts from several of its members as Brooklyn Foose and Miranda Johnson each took a set apiece while Antonia Ilea won six games in a 7-0 setback for Shawnee State against Indiana-Kokomo Sunday afternoon at the Ashland Tennis Center in Ashland, Ky.

The Bears got a set victory from Foose at No. 1 singles, who defeated Indiana-Kokomo's Ava Allen 6-3 before dropping the final two contests to Allen by 6-0, 6-2 counts. Ilea won three games each at No. 2 singles before falling to Indiana-Kokomo's Reiley Hiser, 7-3 and 6-3. At No. 3 singles, Mckenzie Harman won five games over Indiana-Kokomo's Kennedy Perrin before falling 6-3, 6-2.

Miranda Johnson put together a terrific effort at No. 5 singles -- losing by a scant 4-6 margin and rebounding with a strong 6-2 victory in the second set to force the deciding frame. Johnson proceeded to be a tough out for Indiana-Kokomo's Mia Federspill from there, but ultimately fell by an 11-9 count in a highly competitive No. 5 singles contest.
