
SSU women's, men's bowling programs qualify for USBC Sectionals for second straight season, third time in five seasons
For the second consecutive year and the third time in five seasons, the Shawnee State men's and women's bowling programs will be heading to the United States Bowling Congress' (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Sectionals (ITC) as announced earlier this week.
As a result of qualifying, the Shawnee State bowling programs will take part in the Smyrna Sectional, which will be held from Saturday, March 8 to Sunday, March 9 at the Smyrna Bowling Center, which is located at the Smyrna Bowling Center off of 95 Weakley Lane in Smyrna, Tenn. Shawnee State finished 53rd in the final rankings on the men's side while finishing 64th on the women's side to qualify for ITC Sectional competition.
Overall, Shawnee State was one of 17 men's teams and 19 women's teams to qualify in the field. All teams advancing to the four ITC Sectional locations, including Smyrna, Allen Park, Mich., Addison, Ill. and Fort Worth, Texas, will bowl 64 Baker games over two days to determine the four advancers from each location. The top four teams in each division will advance from their sectional and head to South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas for the 2025 ITC from April 16-19.
In the Smyrna sectional, the Shawnee State women will compete against Belmont Abbey, Concordia, Delaware State, Emmanuel, Huntington, Indiana Wesleyan, Jacksonville State, Maryland Eastern Shore, Maryville, Milligan, Missouri Baptist, Rio Grande, Savannah College of Art and Design-Atlanta, Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah, Stephen F. Austin, Tennessee Wesleyan, Trine, University of the Cumberlands, Wright State.
During its own sectional in Smyrna, Shawnee State men will face off against Belmont Abbey, Concordia, Emmanuel, Florida State, Huntington, Indiana Wesleyan, Milligan, Missouri Baptist, Ohio State, Quincy, Savannah College of Art and Design-Atlanta, Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah Tennessee Wesleyan, Trine, University of the Cumberlands, Vincennes, and Webber International
Each sectional qualifier and qualifying and match-play rounds at the ITC and ISC will be broadcast live on BowlTV.com.
