Rocket League Breaks Even in Double Header

Rocket League vs. Rowan University 3 – 1 W

The squad opened the night with a quick 3 – 1 win against Rowan University. The first game was a 1 – 0 win for the Bears, where the game winning goal was credited to Kevin Keller, Jr. (gamertag: Quietkiller). PJ Fiscus (gamertag: Fisci25) got the assist. Dyllan DeBruyne (gamertag: Duckworth) played the defense this game, with three saves to his credit. Game two was a 3 – 4 loss for the squad. They spent most of the game down by at least one goal but scored a late point to try and bring back momentum. Each member of the SSU squad earned one goal, with Keller earning two assists. DeBruyne continued to play the defense with three more saves to his name.

Game three was another low-score win for the Bears, in 2 – 1 fashion. DeBruyne and Fiscus each earned one goal, with DeBruyne having the only assist in the lobby. The senior also earned five more saves to his defensive credit. The fourth game was another 2 – 1 win for SSU. DeBruyne and Fiscus continued to rack up the goals, earning one each. DeBruyne and Keller both assisted with a point, as well as tied on most saves with two.

Rocket League vs. Fisher College 2 – 3 L

Despite nearly earning the reverse sweep, the Bears took home a loss for their final regular season match in a 3 – 2 fashion. Game one was a 1 – 2 loss for the squad, despite an early goal from DeBruyne putting them in the lead for several minutes. Unfortunately, Fisher answered with two late-game goals. Fiscus played the defensive, earning three saves to lead the lobby. Game two was a 1 – 3 loss, with the lone goal earned by Fiscus within the first minute of play. He was assisted by DeBruyne, who also tied with Keller on saves this game at two.

The Bears mounted the comeback in game three, with a big 4 – 1 win over Fisher. DeBruyne and Fiscus split the work, with each senior earning two goals and two assists. Keller was the defender this game, with three saves to lead the lobby. Game four was a nail biter overtime win. After an early goal from DeBruyne put the Bears ahead, Fisher fired back late in the game to tie things up. After seven total minutes of play in game four, Keller scored the game-winning goal to make the win 2 – 1. Keller and DeBruyne both earned an assist and one save each.

The final game once again saw the Bears take an early lead thanks to Fiscus, but this time it was quickly answered by their opponents—and then some. By the time four minutes had passed, the squad was down 1 – 3. Keller nabbed another goal, but the squad conceded a fourth point and were unable to make up the difference in time.

This ends regular season play for Rocket League, who has earned a spot in NACE Last Chance Qualifier. Stay tuned for scheduling information.
