Smash Bros. Enters Posteason Undefeated

After an exciting sweep against Ashland last Thursday, SSU Super Smash Bros. Ultimate finished the spring season undefeated and gained automatic qualification into the NACE national tournament.

Game one saw the squad take a win with five stocks left in the team's bank. Simon Rhodes (gamertag: Bird_) entered first, taking four stocks with a two-stock streak. This paved the way for Ethan Knoff (gamertag: Strakh) to enter and claim four more stocks from Ashland's bank, with yet another two-stock streak for the Bears. Entering last for the squad was Christopher Mowery (gamertag: Spaceminer) who claimed the final four stocks while only losing one of his own. Like his teammates, he had a two-stock streak.

Game two was a much closer call with only two stocks remaining in the Bears' bank. Rhodes kicked off the run again, claiming two more stocks before falling. Next was Nathaniel Compton (gamertag: RainyEmbers) whose NACE debut was a struggle. The freshman was unable to take a stock. Following was Desmond Craft (gamertag: EchoForce), who reclaimed the lead after tearing through six of Ashland's stocks. The junior had a three-stock streak during his run. Mowery returned to the field to clean up the remaining four stocks, which he did while only dropping one of his own.

This win qualifies the Bears for the NACE national tournament. Stay tuned for updates on the first round of tournament play.
