
SSU Super Smash Bros. moves to 4-0 on season with wins over Purdue-Fort Wayne, Indiana Wesleyan; SSU Overwatch scores first win over East Tennessee State
The Super Smash Bros. Esports team at Shawnee State continues to stay red-hot -- as the quartet of Simon Rhodes, Chris Mowery, Sam Patterson and Michael Clark guided the Bears to two victories over Purdue-Fort Wayne and Indiana Wesleyan over the course of the week while the SSU Overwatch squad picked up a 3-1 win over East Tennessee State Tuesday evening.
Thursday, Sept. 19 -- NACE Super Smash Bros., Shawnee State 2, Purdue-Fort Wayne 0 (1-0, 5-0)
In another convincing victory, Shawnee State's NACE Super Smash Bros. unit made quick work of Purdue-Fort Wayne, with Rhodes (Gamertag: BIRD_), Mowery (Gamertag: SPACEMINER), Patterson (Gamertag: SAMAREX) and Clark (Gamertag: SMOOGLEGAD) all contributing in a heavy manner.
Over the course of a tight 1-0 triumph in Game 1, Mowery and Patterson combined to take nine stocks -- then Mowery helped close out the deal in the second set of play, nabbing nine stocks on his own accord in the victory.
Patterson ultimately collected five stocks, with Rhodes' two stocks and Clark's one rounding out the Shawnee State Super Smash Bros. effort.
Saturday, Sept. 21 -- GLEC Super Smash Bros., Shawnee State 2, Indiana Wesleyan 0 (7-0, 10-0)
On Saturday, Shawnee State dominated in an out-and-out fashion, as the Bears made quick work of Indiana Wesleyan with a 7-0, 10-0 victory Saturday in a Great Lakes Esports Conference matchup.
Clark ultimately took a team-high nine stocks in Set 1, while Patterson collected a dozen stocks in Set 2 en route to a convincing victory.
Rhodes added in four stocks in the first set to help finalize matters.
Tuesday, Sept. 24 -- NACE Overwatch, Shawnee State 3, East Tennessee State 1 (2-1, 4-5, 3-1, 1-0)
In another strong performance, the NACE Overwatch group got on the board with an impressive 3-1 victory over East Tennessee State (2-1, 4-5, 3-1, 1-0) Tuesday evening.
The trio of Gabriel Martinson (Gamertag: HAPPY), Zach Smith (Gamertag: SMITTY) and Ben Palmeri (Gamertag: BAS1LISK) collected 50,292, 46,774 and 46,537 damage points, respectively -- while Corbin Betz (Gamertag: DOTBETZ) and Kenneth Hopkins (Gamertag: THEFOX) collected 23,535 and 17,279 damage points to round out a collective effort in the well-contested match, which saw Shawnee State collect wins on Lijiang Tower to begin the match and New Junk City, along with Runasapi, to end it.

Shawnee State's League of Legends unit was also in action this past week, playing Northeastern (Mass.), Ohio Northern and Purdue-Fort Wayne. The Bears dropped those affairs by a 2-0 margin.
