SSU 'A', 'B' units finish 1-2 at OCU Spring Invite; McDonald, Cracraft, Davis, Stevenson finish 1-2-3-4 individually
The men's golf program at Shawnee State hit on a high amount of riches on the second day of Tuesday evening's Ohio Christian Spring Invitational, as the play of Daulton McDonald, Trey Cracraft, Caleb Davis and Tanner Stevenson allowed the quartet to finish 1-2-3-4 in the 26-player Ohio Christian University Spring Invitational and allowed the Shawnee State 'A' and Shawnee State 'B' units to finish 1-2 as well in the five-team event, held at Crown Hill Golf Course in Williamsport, Ohio.
McDonald, who shot a 78 on Day 1, posted a two-day 158 to seal up Medalist honors for the event by one stroke over fellow teammate Cracraft, who shot a two-day 159 behind a 79 on Day 1. Davis' two-day 162 and local Wheelersburg product Tanner Stevenson's two-day 163 led to third place and a tie for fourth place overall individually as the quartet finished on the OCU Spring Invitational's All-Tournament Team.
Ross Ferrell, who posted a strong 74 on Day 2 to notch the best overall round of the tournament, finished in a tie for seventh place alongside Flanders, who used his consistency to nab a top-10 showing. Logan Hughes, Kyle Salamon and Max Kearns each finished in a tie for 12th place to put nine SSU golfers inside the top half of the finishing order.
Tyler Roberts' 16th, Brett Bentley's 17th and Bodie Hillwig's 24th rounded out the Bears who competed in the two-day event.
From a team perspective, the Shawnee State 'A' unit's two-day 650 edged the Shawnee State 'B' unit, who posted a 655. Ohio Christian's 677, Rio Grande's 'A' team's 684 and Rio Grande's 'B' team's 737 rounded out the field.
The men's golf program at Shawnee State will be back in action Monday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 2 when the Bears compete in the two-day UPike Spring Invitational.
