
Flanders, Davis nab top-10s for SSU men's golf to compete two-day stretch at Muskingum Invitational
Behind top-10 showings from Ben Flanders and Caleb Davis, the men's golf program at Shawnee State held its fifth place position to finish out the two-day Muskingum Invitational, which was held at EagleSticks Golf Course in Zanesville, Ohio Sunday and Monday.
Flanders, who shot a three-over 73 on Day 1, followed with a four-over 74 on Day 2 en route to shooting a seven-over 147 in the tournament -- while Davis, after shooting a four-over 74 on Day 1, followed with a three-over 73 on Day 2 to match Flanders' output. Freshman Daulton McDonald continued his consistent play over the spring, nabbing a five-over 75 on Day 2 after shooting a six-over 76 on Day 1 to nab an 11-over 151 and claim a 24th place finish.
Kyle Salamon, who competed as an individual over the two-day event, closed with a strong four-over 74 to move up six spots to 30th at the finish of the two-day event, while Ross Ferrell's 34th and Tanner Stevenson's 35th rounded out the finishing order for Shawnee State.
The men's golf program at Shawnee State will be back in action Saturday and Sunday when the Bears compete at the two-day Pioneer Classic in Marietta, Ohio.
