
Ferrell's 73 leads Bears; SSU men's golf sits 10th following opening day of Ted Barclay Invitational
GRANVILLE, Ohio -- The men's golf program at Shawnee State, behind a strong top-20 performance from Ross Ferrell, currently sits 10th overall following the opening day of the two-round Ted Barclay Invitational, which is being held at the Denison Golf Club in Granville, Ohio.
Ferrell, who shot a two-over 73, currently sits in a tie for 17th place overall in the 66-player field. The Tipp City native sits four shots off of the lead heading into the final day of competition.
Behind Ferrell, Trey Cracraft's five-over 78 followed Ferrell with the sophomore from Maysville, Ky. sitting in a tie for 40th place overall. Cayden Haislop, who competed for Shawnee State as an individual, notched a seven-over 80 in his collegiate debut for the Bears. Haislop's opening round scorecard tied for 48th on the leaderboard following the opening day of competition.
Logan Hughes and Tanner Stevenson (T-60th), along with Owen Robinson (T-64th) rounded out the remaining Shawnee State performers.
Wittenberg, who shot a three-over 287, leads the field while Otterbein's five-over 289 sits second overall. DePauw, Ind.'s seven-over 291, John Carroll's 10-over 294 and Allegheny, Pa.'s 12-over 296 rounded out the top-five on the team leaderboard. Denison's Andrew Gallagher, Muskingum's David Link, Jr., Otterbein's Ian Morgan and DePauw's Manuel Loring-Campos are tied for the overall lead, with the quartet each shooting two-under 69s. Seven additional players are at one-under.
Shawnee State will be back in action for the second and final day of the Ted Barclay Invitational on Sunday.
