SSU men's golf program to compete in two-day River States Conference Fall Preview

Coming off of a fall campaign where the men's golf program at Shawnee State has improved on a tournament-by-tournament basis, Dave Hopkins' club will look to end the fall season with a bang as the Shawnee State men's golf program competes at the two-day River States Conference Fall Preview to close out the fall portion of its schedule, with the RSC Fall Preview being scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W. Va.

Shawnee State is coming off a strong performance at the Roger Merb Invitational -- where the Bears' 'A' unit posted a tie for third place overall out of 16 teams in the two-day tournament by shooting a two-round 605 -- including a 298 in the second round, a collective low for the tournament in terms of a team round in the 2024 RMI. Shawnee State finished just five strokes back of the tournament victory after 36 holes of competition.

By shooting a 298 over the final 18 holes of competition, the Bears posted their third round under 300 over its last four 18-hole rounds as a team. Shawnee State also shot rounds of 299 and 294 on both days of the Ohio Christian Fall Invitational, as well.

Individually, Shawnee State continues to get consistent efforts from various talents.

Over the course of the fall, four different players -- sophomore talent Trey Cracraft, junior veterans Logan Hughes and Ross Ferrell and senior stronghold Tanner Stevenson -- have led the Bears in terms of a scoring round.

Cracraft was named to the Roger Merb Invitational All-Tournament team after placing in a three-way tie for second place, while Hughes has finished inside the top-15 overall in three consecutive tournaments as the duo have played the best golf of their college careers. Much the same can be said about Stevenson, who finished sixth at the Georgetown Invitational and ninth at the Ohio Christian Fall Invitational. Ferrell, meanwhile, led the Bears at the season-opening Ted Barclay Invitational and has also been a consistent scoring hand throughout the fall.

Those four players, along with freshman Owen Robinson and sophomore Kyle Salamon, each finished inside the top-half of an 81-player field at the Roger Merb Invitational.

The lineup for the Shawnee State men's golf program is as follows:
