Green, Stam named as CSC Academic All-District honorees
GREENWOOD, Ind. -- The men's soccer program at Shawnee State nabbed two College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honorees in a list released by CSC officials Tuesday afternoon -- with senior goalkeeper Eric Green and senior midfielder Matt Stam representing Shawnee State on the 2024 version of the list.
Green, who holds a 3.84 GPA, is a biomedical sciences major while Stam, a marketing major, holds a 3.77 in the classroom.
In addition to their exploits in the classroom, both players were reliable on the pitch throughout the year for the Bears.
Along with being named as a team captain, Green was the only player to start in all 19 contests that Shawnee State participated in during the 2024 season. Green finished the 2024 season with 78 saves, a 2.01 goals-against-average and six shutouts, with the senior ultimately nabbing 157 saves and a 1.8 goals-against-average for his career.
Stam, who was one of five players to appear in all 19 contests along with Green, Marco Riva, Cameron Thompson and Sean Williams, posted three goals, two assists and eight points over the course of his career -- including a two-goal effort in 2024.
To be eligible for College Sports Communicators recognition, a student-athlete must be of sophomore or older in eligibility, have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and either appear in 90 percent of a team's contests or start in at least 66 percent of said team's affairs.
