
Shawnee State men's soccer to hold Boys High School Soccer Shootout July 19-20
The men's soccer program at Shawnee State will be holding a two-day shootout of its own during the month of July, as Stan Rodrigues' program will hold the Boys High School Soccer Shootout Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Shawnee Turf.
The shootout, which is open to boys high school teams, costs $300 per team. The deadline to register is Friday, July 4.
For the shootout, all participants must bring the following:
- Shin guards
- Socks
- Cleats
- Ball
- Water bottle
Rodrigues is a coaching veteran who established the men's soccer program at Eastern Oregon and has coached at several institutions along the way, including NCAA Division II Adams State, NCAA Division II member Cal State-Dominguez Hills and NCAA Division I Loyola Marymount. He has earned his United States Soccer Federations (USSF) 'B' License, United Soccer Coaches (USC) Goal Keepers License I/II, USSF Adult Coaching License, USC Director of Coaching Diploma and the Dutch Coever Coaching Diploma.
In his first season as the head coach of the Shawnee State men's soccer program, Rodrigues led Shawnee State to its first-ever conference semifinal appearance and raised the men's soccer program's team GPA from 3.1 to 3.4 in his opening season at the helm. The Bears finished 8-8-3 in Rodrigues' first year on campus.
