Bears Compete in Dual

The Shawnee Swim Team took on Midway University, along with the University of Pikeville in a doubleheader on October 14th.  The Shawnee Combined Team overtook both teams to give the Bears their first victory of the season.

Coach Pennington reflects on her team's first road trip of the season saying, "We had a lot of excitement surrounding our first travel meet of the season. Our men had their first win of the season and both the men and women together won as well. The women put up a good fight even though we were missing some people due to illness and scschool-relatedvents."

The Shawnee Team put in their maximum effort and it resulted in several notable performances. The Men's 400 A-Team Medley Relay placed 1st (3:50.54), along with a 1st place finishing in the 200 Freestyle Relay (1:34.55). The Women's Relays finished 1st in the 200 Freestyle (1:45.36)and placed 2nd in the 400 Medley (4:22.62).

Several Freshman swimmers made a significant splash! Kate McCafferty finished 1st in the 200 Backstroke (2:12.75) and the 400 Individual Medley (4:54.20). Along with a 1st place finishing in the 100 Backstroke by Mercedes Mwebiha (1:07.25) and Ethan Wisler placed 1st in the 200 Freestyle (1:59.48).

The Bears are excited to host the Union College Bulldogs for their next meet on October 28th at the Warsaw Aquatics Center!
