
SSU men's, women's swimming programs place eighth in College of Wooster Invitational after Day 1
The men's and women's swimming programs at Shawnee State University started their mid-season taper meet in Wooster, Ohio. The morning session began with several impressive swims with many athletes cutting times.
Freshman Mikayla Cox dropped over 16 seconds on her 500 freestyle (6:09.67) while senior Carissa Link improved her 200 Individual Medley (2:33.19) by five seconds. Sophomore Alex Ray cut nearly two seconds off of his best 50 freestyle time (22.55).
A pair of athletes advanced to the finals during the evening portion. Junior Evan Siberell cut seven seconds off of his 200 Individual Medley time (2:04.88), which landed him in the C finals, where he continued to drop time (2:04.76) while placing among the top 25 swimmers in the event. Sophomore Abigail Bosler continued her pattern of dropping time in the 50 freestyle (25.03) giving her the lead for the B finals, which she demolished with her 24.83 time and ninth place overall.
The evening session concluded with a successful showing from the SSU team's relays. The women's 200 Freestyle A Relay finished in 5th place with a time of 1:41.52, while their Men's 400 Medley A Relay matched them with another 5th place finishing (3:54.21).

The Shawnee State men's and women's swimming programs will be back in action Friday for the second day of the College of Wooster Invitational. The event runs through Saturday.
