
French, I, Lanoy finish 1-2 in 5,000; T. Lanoy, K. Lanoy add top-10s in 1,000 to lead SSU men at YSU Mid-Major Invite
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The standout tandem of Dylan French and Isaiah Lanoy continued adding to what has been strong indoor track and field campaigns for the pair -- as French and Lanoy swept the top two spots to lead the Shawnee State men's indoor track and field program during the first day of the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational Friday evening, which was held at the Watson and Tressel Training Site in Youngstown, Ohio.
French, who ran a 15:24.20, and Isaiah Lanoy, who collected a 15:28.98, outran five NCAA Division I runners and more than a dozen NCAA Division II competitors en route to being the only pair of runners in the 34-participant field to post times under 15:30 in the event.
In addition to the above duo, Trevor Lanoy and Kaiden Lanoy also ran at a strong pace comparative to their competition, running times of 2:35.05 and 2:37.10 to finish seventh and eighth in a 23-runner field in the 1,000 meter run.
Additional finishers behind the leading quartet included Caden LaRue and French, who finished 14th and 15th in the 1,000 meter run (2:42.67 and 2:43.61 respectively), and Jerry O'Dell and Garrett Carver, who nabbed finishes of 16th and 26th in the 5,000 with marks of 16:23.04 and 16:46.14.
Each of the seven distance runners above will represent Shawnee State in action on the second day of the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational.
