I. Lanoy's blistering pace in DMR, 3,000 meter run leads Lancaster standout to RSC Track Athlete of Week honor
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Behind a terrific weekend where Isaiah Lanoy helped set a NAIA National 'B' Standard and a school record in one event and added in a NAIA National 'B' Standard with a personal best in another, the Lancaster Golden Gale alum was named as the River State Conference's Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by conference officials Monday afternoon.
Shawnee State standout running talent Isaiah Lanoy posted two NAIA National 'B' Standard marks in back-to-back days at the Fourth Annual Jud Logan Light Giver Meet at Ashland University -- setting two national top-10 times in the distance medley relay (Friday) and the 3,000 meter run (Saturday).
In combining with Dylan French, Cody Hesler and Trevor Lanoy to run a 10:07.57 in the DMR, Isaiah Lanoy posted a mark that was not only well above the NAIA National 'B' Standard cutoff time of 10:14, but came within 1.57 seconds of a NAIA National 'A' Standard mark as well. The standout quartet not only bettered both Rio Grande distance medley relay teams in the field, but bettered both Wright State distance medley relay units as well.
Overall, only Oklahoma City, Marian (Ind.), Indiana Wesleyan, Spring Arbor (Mich.), Doane (Neb.), Concordia (Neb.), College of Idaho and St. Mary's (Kan.) have put together a faster DMR time during the 2025 indoor track and field season than Shawnee State's DMR unit did on Friday.
On Saturday, Lanoy finished a strong fifth in a deep 83-runner field full of NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III running talents, posting a personal best 8:23.16 to beat the 8:27 cutoff for NAIA National 'B' Standard qualification.
Lanoy ultimately ran faster than all six NCAA Division I runners who participated in the 3,000 meter run and was one of just seven runners in the event to run underneath an 8:30 in the event.
The only runners who ran faster than Lanoy were two NCAA Division II harriers from Charleston (W. Va.), one NCAA Division II runner from Findlay, and an unattached competitor. His time of 8:23.16 is currently the ninth fastest mark in the entire NAIA realm -- and beat out his previous personal best of 8:33.85, which was set just a weekend ago at the Youngstown State Mid-Major Meet, by nearly 10.7 seconds.
