Shawnee State men's indoor distance medley relay finishes 19th nationally
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Competing in their first NAIA Men's Indoor Track and Field National Championship together, the men's distance medley relay grouping of Dylan French, Cody Hesler, Isaiah Lanoy and Trevor Lanoy posted a time of 10:19.97 to complete three NAIA National Top-20 showings in three events between the women's and men's indoor track and field programs following the opening day of the three-day NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships, which are being held at Alachua County Sports and Events Center in Gainesville, Fla.
The quartet, who posted one of 19 times underneath a 10:20 in the event, outperformed River States Conference foe and archrival Rio Grande by nearly 30 full seconds in the event -- as the RedStorm's primary DMR grouping nabbed a 10:49.38 to finish 26th.
With this finish, the Bears also went 3-for-3 in terms of outperforming the RedStorm in national events in a strong Day 1 showing for Shawnee State overall -- with both programs continuing to put together competitive NAIA National performances in representing the River States Conference at a high level.
French and Isaiah Lanoy, along with Shawnee State field athlete Luke Rader, will compete in the one mile, the 3,000 meter run and the long jump, respectively, as part of Friday's action for the Bears. French will race in the one mile preliminaries at 12:05 p.m., Isaiah Lanoy will compete in the 3,000 meter run preliminaries at 4:40 p.m., and Rader will compete in both the long jump preliminaries, with the finals to follow, beginning at 4:40 p.m.
