Bears Run at Nationals
Late last week, Shawnee State Track and Field team members traveled to Marion, Indiana, to participate in the NAIA National Championship. Jozi Brown, Cody Booth, Hunter Hoover, Alex Morris, and Aiden Kammler all proudly wore the Bear on the front of their chest while competing in their respective events.
Starting off in the Women's 10000-meter race, Jozi Brown ran a 39:19 as she placed 31st. This was Brown's only event of the competition.
On the Men's side, the Bears had a strong showing on day one as three Bears finished in the top 20 in the 10000-meter. Booth finished sixth overall with a 30:39 time, claiming All-American honors. Hoover fell just short of honors as he finished ninth and Morris finished 20th in the event. Day two was another thrilling day for the Bears. As they called for runners to report for the 5000-meter race Kammler, Hoover, and Booth all warmed for their heat race, determining who moved on to the finals. Kammler was the only Bear to make the Finals in the 5000-meter event, which ran on the final day of the Championships. Aiden Kammler had a great showing for the Bears as he finished second only seconds behind first place.
