Kammler keeps collecting: Senior picks up yet another RSC Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor
Shawnee State's Aiden Kammler has done it again.
Yes, the senior has won yet another River States Conference Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor.
It's never surprising, but always rewarding to see the talented scholar-athlete achieve the milestone yet again.
Running a race where 24 of the 45 participants were NCAA Division I runners, Shawnee State's Aiden Kammler bettered 23 NCAA D-I participants from seven different programs (Connecticut, Dayton, Miami (Ohio), Ohio, Ohio State, Wright State and Youngstown State) in the 5,000 Meter Run at the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus, Kammler, who just missed winning the race by a mere 1.29 seconds in running a 14:25.78, beat the necessary NAIA 'A' Standard time by over 22 seconds.
Kammler's 5,000 meter run time at the Jesse Owens Classic is currently the eighth-fastest 5,000 meter run performance in the NAIA this season in the event and the fastest in the River States Conference by over 33 seconds. He had already churned out a blistering time of 29:59.71 in the 10,000 meter run just two weekends ago at the Lee Flames' Fast Break Athletics Invitational -- which is currently the fifth-fastest time nationally in that event.
In addition to his 5,000 meter run time, Kammler's 10,000 meter run mark is the fastest in the conference by nearly a minute and six seconds. The senior is also the fastest runner in the 1,500 meter run (3:54.62) by five seconds over fellow teammate Dylan French. Kammler also holds the fourth-fastest 800 meter run time (1:55.55).
