Seven named NAIA Scholar-Athletes for SSU men's track and field program
The men's track and field program at Shawnee State had seven of its own athletes named as NAIA Scholar-Athlete honorees, with Logan Boggs, Evan Siberell, Alex Morris, Malachi Shugert, Aiden Kammler, Aidan Judd and Matthew Rauch all being named as NAIA Scholar-Athlete honorees by the national governing body Tuesday. All seven honorees posted a 3.5 GPA and completed two or more semesters academically at Shawnee State, which are the required NAIA guidelines that had to be met at the time of submission April 15.
Boggs, who graduated with a 3.92 GPA in information systems management, headed the list with the unit's highest GPA. Siberell, a multi-sport athlete who also competes in men's swimming, notched a 3.85 GPA in accounting and has over 115 hours of academic credit in his pocket. Morris graduated with a 3.84 GPA in marketing, joining Boggs as a high honors graduate, while Shupert has over 110 hours of academic credit in accounting as well.
Kammler and Judd followed behind the first quartet as Kammler graduated with a 3.67 GPA in plastics engineering technology while Judd finished with a 3.65 GPA as an intervention specialist. Rauch, who had above a 3.5 GPA at the time of nomination, has earned over 95 hours of academic credit.
In addition to the above individuals, senior runner Philip Evory pushed his GPA above a 3.5 in exercise science upon completion of his final semester after the April 15 submission date, while Rowen Lloyd notched a 3.54 GPA in biomedical sciences during his freshman year. Lloyd will be eligible for NAIA Scholar-Athlete nomination for each athletic year thereafter if he maintains a GPA at or above the 3.5 cutoff.
