VIERA, Fla. -- The softball program at Shawnee State got a pair of hits and a walk from leadoff hitter Jenna Christopher, as well as a triple late in Sunday's second game by Sierra Dunnagan, but the Bears fell in a pair of contests to New College of Florida and Siena Heights (Mich.) by 3-0 and 8-0 margins Sunday evening.
Christopher, who is hitting .333 over the first four games of the 2025 season, stole two bases and ultimately went 2-for-5 with a walk Sunday evening.
Dunnagan, who went 1-for-3 with her sixth-inning triple against Siena Heights, and Genavie Espinoza, who also went 1-for-3 in the second contest against the Saints, joined Christopher in the hit column.
Espinoza -- a designated player when the senior isn't pitching -- posted a quality effort inside the circle in Game 1 against New College of Florida, going the six-inning distance and amassing five strikeouts during that stretch of time. The senior allowed just two earned runs to cross the plate.
Shawnee State (2-2) will look to bounce back Monday morning and afternoon when the Bears close out their Florida trip with contests against Michigan-Dearborn (10 a.m.) and No. 12-ranked Indiana Wesleyan (2:30 p.m.) in Viera, Fla.
