(RV) SSU WBB collects largest margin of victory in 2024-25; Maynard hits seven 3s to collect new career-high of 24 in 100-33 win over Indiana-Columbus

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Career-highs just seem to keep pouring in for Emily Maynard.

Two days after collecting a new high-point mark for the third time in five games, the 5-11 sniper from nearby Greenup, Ky. posted a career-high in points for the fourth time over her last six games.

Maynard, who knocked down six three-point attempts to post a career-high 22 markers against Simmons (Ky.) Tuesday evening, hit six of her first 13 three-point attempts from the field and ultimately finished with seven treys for the contest to collect a new career-high of 24 points -- leading five double-figure scorers as the Shawnee State women's basketball program blitzed the Indiana-Columbus Crimson Pride women's basketball program, 100-33, Thursday evening at Waller Gymnasium in Portsmouth.

Game Summary

From start to finish, the contest proved to be pure domination on Shawnee State's end -- as the Bears jumped out to a 31-2 lead after the opening quarter of play and didn't look back. All 12 players who participated in the contest for Shawnee State scored as the Bears played unselfish basketball, amassing a season-high 24 assists on 41 made baskets and posting a massive 55-18 rebounding advantage (plus-37) in the contest.

Shawnee State not only took off on a 31-2 run during the first quarter of action, but also outscored Indiana-Columbus 30-5 in the third quarter of play to firmly establish control. The Bears scored the first bucket of the contest 18 seconds into the game and never trailed in the 66-point rout, as the SSU defense held the Crimson Pride to 12-of-53 shooting (22.6 percent) in the contest.

Emily Maynard, who posted her fourth double-figure scoring output over her last six contests, has hit at least six three-pointers in three out of the last four games that the sophomore has played in. Maynard is up to 7.6 points per game for the 2024-25 season -- and is shooting 38.2 percent from three-point range to boot -- but is performing at an even higher level over SSU's last six contests, averaging 14.8 points while shooting 42.4 percent from three-point range.

In addition to her 24-point outing, Maynard also posted five rebounds, four assists and three steals, all without turning the basketball over a single time in Thursday's contest.

Jada Johnson again led the bench scoring by posting a 13-point, seven-rebound outing on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and a 3-of-4 mark from the free throw line -- and in doing so, posted her third double-figure effort over the senior's past four affairs. The Nashville, Tenn. native is averaging 7.6 points and 4.4 rebounds for the 2024-25 season but is averaging 11.3 points and six rebounds on 54.5 percent shooting over her last four games.

In just 19 minutes, Cianna Gloster was again dominant -- posting 10 points and three rebounds in the first half and posting seven rebounds and four points in the final frame of play to finish with 14 points and 10 rebounds on 7-of-8 shooting for the contest. Gloster racked up her 31st career double-double outing in her 49th game at Shawnee State.

Miyoshi Ellis also shined for Shawnee State in limited time due to the lopsided victory -- as the lead guard, in her ninth consecutive start, posted 11 points, six rebounds and five assists while going 5-of-8 from the field. Ellis turned the basketball over just once in what was another strong floor game for the junior.

Microwave scoring guard Jonilyah Chambers added in a nice outing as well -- as the Huber Heights Wayne High School graduate and true freshman guard posted 10 points, three rebounds and two steals in 14 minutes while going 4-of-8 from the floor.

Additional

Lauren Hawthorne added in a strong line, posting eight rebounds, six points, two assists and two steals while going 2-of-3 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line, while Lexi Deaver added in four points, three rebounds and three assists and Jaden Tucker four points and four rebounds off of the bench behind Johnson and Hawthorne. Starting-wise, Jariah Steele chipped in six points and two rebounds on 3-of-4 shooting while Sanaya Gregory posted four points, four assists and three steals during the graduate student's time on the floor.

Laken Williams' three rebounds, two assists and two points and Addison Edmondson's two rebounds and two points rounded out those who contributed on the statline.
