SSU women's bowling holds sixth position in final Raider Classic rundown

The consistent efforts of the Shawnee State women's bowling program resulted in another good performance from the Bears as Shawnee State's total mark of 7,145 pins for the Beaver Classic kept the SSU women in sixth place following the second and final day of the event -- which was held at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek, Ohio Saturday and Sunday.

With its pin count, the SSU women bettered five in-state schools, including Rio Grande (ninth, 6,985 pins), Wittenberg (10th, 6,762 pins), Akron (12th, 6,322 pins), Tiffin (13th, 6,149 pins) and Ohio Northern (15th, 5,919 pins).

Individually, Shawnee State got strong efforts from Hannah Rearick (962 pins), Skylar Lane (944 pins) and Chloe Long (927 pins), who all finished inside the top-20 of the event. Rearick dropped 227 pins in Game 4 and 201 pins in Game 1, while Long and Lane knocked 221 and 221 pins to the lane, respectively, in Game 5.

Olyvia Bittner finished with a five-game total of 877 pins dropped -- including 199 alone in Game 4 -- while Emma Billenstein, MacKenzie Drone and Emma Higgins also competed individually, as well.

After notching 3,672 pins in all on the opening day through individual scores, Shawnee State dropped another 3,473 pins in Baker play to close out the two-day event.

The Shawnee State men's and women's bowling programs will be back in action next Saturday in a Ohio Bowling Conference match.
