
SSU women finish 19th in ITC Sectional Qualifier in Smyrna, Tenn.
In the final day of ITC Sectional Qualifying competition, the Shawnee State women's bowling program notched a 19th place finish at the Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) Sectional Qualifier in Smyrna, Tenn., finishing its season by knocking down 10,742 pins in all over 64 Baker games for an average of 167.8 pins per game.
On Sunday, the Bears posted the fourth best Baker score in Game 50 (211), the fifth best score in Game 60 (201), the third-highest mark in Game 63 (215), and, lastly, a mark of 203 in the 64th and final Baker game, which tied for fourth overall among all teams.
By finishing with marks above 200 in Games 60, 63 and 64, Shawnee State was able to finish its season on a strong note, notching Baker affairs above 200 in three out of its final five Bakers to end the year.
The Shawnee State women will lose arguably its two best bowlers in program history to graduation in Chloe Long and Skylar Lane.
Together, Long and Lane have combined for 21 individual finishes inside the top-dozen of an event. Long and Lane are each in good academic standing, and Long, who not only finished with a 4.0 GPA as an undergraduate student but also holds a 4.0 GPA as a grad student, won the Ohio Bowling Conference's Tournament Championship in 2021 and was named as an NAIA All-American in the 2020-21 season. Lane holds a 3.13 GPA herself in nursing.
