SSU women's bowling finishes 11th at Lynne Jordan Memorial

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The women's bowling program at Shawnee State got a top-50 finish from Onesti Evans and a strong effort from Emma Billenstein, who also finished inside the top half of the field individually, to finish 11th in the 17-team Lynne Jordan Memorial Saturday at Ken Bowl Lanes in Louisville, Ky.

Evans, who continues to have a strong season, posted a stout effort as the freshman from Washington Court House, Ohio continues to blossom. Evans, who bowled a 758 over four individual games to finish with a 189.5 average, bowled a 215 in Game 1 and a 214 in Game 4 to finish 37th in the 112-competitor field individually.

Billenstein, a sophomore from Versailles, Ohio, ran off back-to-back games of 212 and 200 to close individual play with a big 179-pin average, finishing 52nd overall in the field.

Morgan Higgins (68th), Olyvia Bittner (73rd), Kylie Fowler (102nd), Jackie Aubry (107th) and McKenna Roades (110th) rounded out the competitors on the Shawnee State side individually.

Team-wise, Shawnee State knocked down 4,845 pins between individual play as well as Baker games to finish ahead of Thomas More (Ky.), Union Commonwealth (Ky.), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Campbellsville (Ky.) and Blue Mountain Christian College (Miss.). The women bowled marks of 215 and 220 in the first two Baker games, and followed it up with marks of 188 and back-to-back 192s in Games 5 through 7.

Shawnee State will participate in the Thomas N. Burris Memorial Sunday morning and afternoon at Ken Bowl Lanes in Louisville, Ky.
