SSU women finish third at UPike Spring Invitational

The women's golf program used strong efforts by Erika Martin and Aly Wellman on the opening day of the UPike Spring Invitational to claim a third place finish at the UPike Spring Invitational, which was held at Stonecrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg, Ky.

Shawnee State's efforts were led by Erika Martin, who tied with Pikeville's Sophia Beverly for 10th overall by shooting a 13-over 85, and Aly Wellman, who shot a 15-over 87 to match Georgetown's Holly Holton for 12th overall in the finishing order.

Cali Baird finished 21st, Raevin Mitchell notched a 22nd place finish and Maggie Siley nabbed a 25th place showing to round out the field.

Day 2 action was cancelled due to the inclement weather that hit Prestonsburg and the entire Tri-State Area region throughout Tuesday.

The Shawnee State women's golf program will be back in action along with the men's golf program Sunday, April 7 and Monday, April 8 when the Bears play at EagleSticks Golf Club in Zanesville.
