Belville, Baird, Wellman in top-15 after first day of Ohio Christian Fall Invitational

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio -- The women's golf program continues to be paced by a young gun, as freshman Sidnea Belville continued her consistent start by posting an opening round 89 to put herself in a tie for 11th while Cali Baird and Aly Wellman sit in 13th and a tie for 14th, respectively, following the opening day of the Ohio Christian Fall Invitational at Pickaway Golf Course and Country Club in Circleville on Monday afternoon.

Belville, a true freshman from Ironton, continued building on what has been an impressive start to her collegiate career. Despite sitting 11th, Belville is just 10 shots back of the individual lead and five back of a top-five showing as the Lawrence County native continues to showcase upperclass abilities.

Baird -- who posted a strong round on her own -- sits just seven shots back of a top-five position, as her opening round 91 has the junior multi-sport athlete and Thornville native in 13th place. Wellman, a sophomore from Wayne, W. Va., sits just a shot back of Baird, shooting a 92 in the opening round to tie for 14th place on the leaderboard.

Like Belville, Brynna Spencer, a freshman who has been a consistent scorer for the Shawnee State women's golf program all season, sits 20th, while Brianna Stid, who appeared in her first collegiate outing Monday, holds 25th and concluded Shawnee State's Day 1 efforts.

The Shawnee State women, along with the men, will be back in action Tuesday afternoon for the second and final day of the Ohio Christian Fall Invitational at the Pickaway Golf Course and Country Club in Circleville.
