Women’s Soccer Opens Season Against Racers

Shawnee State's Women's Soccer Team welcomed in the Racers of the University of Northwestern Ohio for their first regular season game of 2023. After a tough fight, back-and-forth match, the Bears would fall to the Racers 3-1.

The first half would start with fireworks as UNOH took the ball away from the Shawnee offense and scored in the game's seventh minute. That did not stop SSU from doing the same thing to the Racers, as the Bears would find the back of the goal eighty-nine seconds later when Haynna Addy found herself in the right spot and scored the goal. The Racers scored once more in the eighteenth minute, giving them a 2-1 lead for the remainder of the half.

After the short intermission of action, both teams battled once again for forty-five minutes with each team's defense shining true. The two teams each had multiple shots and corner attempts in the early part of the second half with nothing coming from them, that was until the Racers found the back of the goal once more, making the final 3-1.

The Bears will be back in action this Saturday, August 26 as former conference foe Campbellsville Tigers come to town. The match will start at 5 P.M.
