Bears Fall to Cougars

The Shawnee State Women's Soccer team traveled to Kokomo, Indiana, Saturday afternoon to face off against the Cougars of IU Kokomo for the second game of the conference. The Bears controlled most of the game but could not find the back of the net, falling behind 3-1 against the Cougars.

The first half started with an early shot from Kendra Brewer for the Cougars that hit the crossbar. After a lot of juggling, the ball found the netting and put the Cougars up 1-0. Hannah Sponsel had the lone shot for the Bears in the first half, and as the clock rolled to zeros, SSU was down 2-0 to the Cougars.

Starting the second half, Shawnee kept possession of the ball for most of the second half, but they would have a tough time finding the net. With only five minutes left, Hanna Sponsel crossed the ball and Annie Coriell headed it and put it in the back of the net for the Bears. That was all the excitement for SSU as the game ended 3-1 for the first conference loss for the Bears.

The Shawnee State Women's Soccer team will host Ohio Christian in the Shawnee Turf at 6 p.m. this Thursday.
