The Shawnee State women's soccer team traveled to face the Red Wolves of Indiana East University on Thursday afternoon. It was a tight game between both teams, but the Red Wolves took the victory with a 3-1 score.
The first half started and the SSU faced a high-pressure team that got an early free kick in the first minute. The Red Wolves scored their first goal in the second minute of the game. In the 9th minute, Frederika Ntumba scored the equalizer for the Bears, assisted by Brianna Brudy. With the game knotted at one, Shawnee had opportunities to score but did not have luck finding the back of the net for the rest of the first half. Indiana East would score two more goals and the first half would end 3-1 for the Red Wolves.
For the second half, the Bears came out like they were shot out of a cannon attempting to get a draw. In the 66th minute, Frederika Ntumba had a shot that hit the crossbar. SSU controlled the ball during the second half, but they were not able to get anything past the keep and were unable to score for the rest of the game. The Bears had 15 shots (5 shots on goal) during the game, while the Red Wolves had 10 shots (4 shots on goal). The game would end 3-1 for Indiana East.
The Bears will welcome UC Clearmont on Wednesday at the Shawnee turf, the game starts at 5 PM
