
SSU WSOC to host former conference foe Lindsey Wilson in season opener Wednesday evening
The women's soccer program at Shawnee State will open the 2024-25 home slate of contests for Shawnee State Athletics on Wednesday evening, as the Shawnee State women's soccer program will face the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders' women's soccer program at 6 p.m., a change from the originally slated start time of 7 p.m.
Lindsey Wilson (0-1), who finished 4-11-1 in 2023, returns Second-Team All-Mid-South Conference talents in 5-1 graduate student Silvia Marchesi (four goals, four assists) and 5-7 sophomore Efua Asabel (three goals, assist). Leading goals and points producer in 5-3 sophomore Ashiat Naluggwa also returns, as does 5-3 graduate student Alina Siegel, 5-1 sophomore Emilie Bernard, 5-9 sophomore Alexandra Giusti, and 5-3 sophomore Leonie Schmid. 5-7 senior Maia Sapp, 5-5 senior Shelby Bell, 5-5 junior Lindsay Cox, 5-1 sophomore Sharon Nadunga, 5-6 junior Jade Yann and 5-1 senior Lexi Hale.
Shawnee State returns a litany of key producers themselves, as the following return for the Bears:

- 5-5 sophomore Juyle Derenmesnil (43 saves, Second-Team All-RSC goalkeeper)
- 5-6 sophomore Elizabeth Brown
- 5-8 senior Carlota Ipina Taylor
- 5-5 sophomore Annie Coriell (four goals, one assist)
- 6-0 senior Kya Edwards
- 5-8 senior Bianca Robinson
- 5-3 senior Haynna Addy (10 goals, one assist, Second-Team All-RSC forward)
- 5-3 senior Madison Culp (Third-Team All-RSC defensive midfielder)
- 5-7 junior Robyn Drinkwater (four goals, three assists)
- 5-10 senior Claire Favre (Second-Team All-RSC defender)
- 5-2 sophomore Ariane Davis
Additionally, freshmen Harlee Brand, Whitney Dean and Isabelle Riddle have already seen minutes as evidenced in the opening contest of the 2024 season against Campbellsville. Dean played all 90 minutes against the Tigers.
Wednesday evening's contest will represent a change for Shawnee State Athletics as all athletic events will be live streamed through Hudl. Each athletic contest will cost $8 -- the general price of admission for adults -- to watch.
