
SSU WSOC to face Cincinnati-Clermont Friday at Northern Kentucky University
Continuing its journey as road warriors, the women's soccer program at Shawnee State will head north on the AA Highway to face a familiar nonconference opponent -- as the Bears will take on Cincinnati-Clermont Friday evening at 6 p.m. at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Ky.
Previewing Cincinnati-Clermont (0-1-1)
- Cincinnati-Clermont, who enters as the defending United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II National Champion, lost to Rio Grande by a 2-1 margin and tied with Cleary (Mich.) 2-2 in its previous officially scored contests on Aug. 21 and Aug. 31. The Cougars have won three USCAA Division II National Championships over the last five seasons, also winning the USCAA Division II National Championship in 2018 and 2019.

- Senior forward Kerianne White (six goals, one assist) 13 points)
- Senior midfielder Jordan Geis (four goals, two assists, 10 points)

Reviewing Shawnee State (0-2)
- Shawnee State handed Cincinnati-Clermont one of its three losses last season -- as the Bears defeated the Cougars, 5-1, on Friday, Oct. 11 of last year.
- In that contest, current Shawnee State senior Robyn Drinkwater scored in the 30th and 47th minutes, while Shawnee State sophomore Lucie Ashkettle scored in the 42nd to help the Bears take a 3-0 lead in the match. Madison Culp's 61st minute goal helped finish the contest off.
- Current goalkeeper Julye Derenemensil, who made four saves in Shawnee State's 5-1 victory a season ago, already has 22 saves through Shawnee State's first two matches of the 2024 season.
- Of Shawnee State's 19 players, 13 of them played on the 2023 unit whose 5-1 victory over Cincinnati-Clermont was a part of SSU's 8-3 finish to the 2023 season over its last 11 contests.
