Culp, Riddle, Ashkettle, Favre named as All-RSC recipients
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Behind its 3-3-3 overall record in River States Conference play, the women's soccer program at Shawnee State had four individuals named as All-River States Conference recipients Tuesday afternoon, with Isabelle Riddle, Madison Culp, Claire Favre and Lucie Ashkettle all being included in an all-conference list that was released by officials within the RSC.
Riddle, who has been a key component to Shawnee State's defensive success in River States Conference action, and Culp, a veteran hand who is a captain for Shawnee State, each obtained Second-Team All-RSC honors.
Riddle, a freshman from Columbus is one of five players to play in each of Shawnee State's 15 contests this season and has been a major component to an effective Shawnee State defense that has given up just 10 goals in its nine River States Conference games -- and only six over its last eight RSC affairs. Her quick adjustment to the collegiate game and her leadership has been massive in every facet, and Riddle, who has also showcased a stout leg on free kicks, scored a huge first-half goal against West Virginia Tech that not only proved to be Shawnee State's first win of the season at that time but counted as the game-winning goal, as well.
Culp, a senior from Middletown, has played in 61 career games and started in 49 of those affairs. She's also one of four players this season to play and start in all 15 contests for the Bears in 2024. An effective defensive-minded player who has provided fantastic leadership throughout her career and also showcases quick feet and turning ability, Culp also has accumulated five goals and four assists for her career to amass a total of 14 points.
Favre and Ashkettle, who like Culp are returning letterwinners and veterans in the Shawnee State lineup, were Third-Team All-RSC selections.
Ashkettle, a sophomore from nearby Lucasville who is strong in multiple facets of the game, already has nine career goals and 22 points to her credit with the River States Conference Tournament, and potentially more, still left to play in her second year at SSU. Ashkettle has already showcased a proficient finishing touch and plays larger than her listed frame.
Favre, a senior captain from Besancon, France, has been a consistent three-year starter for Shawnee State ever since transferring from NCAA Division II Georgia Southwestern State. The senior has played in 53 contests to date, and started 49 of those affairs. Like Riddle, Favre has been a major component to an effective Shawnee State defense that has given up just 10 goals in its nine River States Conference games -- and only six over its last eight RSC affairs. Favre's length, which has been big in contesting shots, and her tenacity have stood out throughout the season on the pitch. Along with Culp, Favre is also one of four players this season to play and start in each of Shawnee State's 15 bouts this season.
