Bosler, D. Lewis, McCafferty combine for five NAIA Provisional Cuts on Day 3 of Mid-South Conference Championships
DANVILLE, Ky. -- The women's swimming program at Shawnee State got big efforts once again from Abigail Bosler, De-Nicha Lewis, and Katie McCafferty -- as the trio combined for five NAIA Provisional Cuts on the third and final day of the Mid-South Conference Championships, garnering 10 cut times in all for the weekend.
McCafferty, who set two NAIA Cut times on Day 3 alone, finished sixth in the 1650 yard freestyle, posting a 18:49.93 in the long distance event to finish sixth in a field where seven swimmers, conference-wide, earned NAIA Provisional Cut times or better. The sophomore then added a 2:14.40 in the preliminary round of the 200 yard backstroke, swimming a 2:14.40 as one of nine individuals to hit a provisional time in that event.
Lewis, who also set two NAIA Cut times on Day 3, swam a fast time of 54.84 as one of 14 individuals conference-wide to hit a NAIA Provisional Cut in the 100 yard freestyle. Lewis then collected a 24.76 in a 50 yard freestyle time trial to hit another provisional.
Bosler, who was one of 11 individuals to hit a NAIA Provisional Cut in Mid-South Conference action on Day 3 in the 200 yard breaststroke, swam a 2:27.46 in preliminary action -- and finished eighth in the finals.
In relay events, Bosler and Lewis teamed with Mercedes Mwebeiha and Emilie Wasnich to claim fifth in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Between her efforts with the women's and men's swimming programs, Shawnee State men's and women's swimming head coach Tricia Boggs was named as the Mid-South Conference's Coach of the Year. More will be coming on Boggs in a story later today.
