Bosler finishes 28th in 50 free to begin journey for SSU women's swimming at NAIA National Championships
ELKHART, Ind. -- A multi-time NAIA National Qualifier and NAIA National Championship participant, Abigail Bosler began her NAIA National Championship journey with another competitive time and performance against the NAIA's best, posting a top-30 national finish in the 50 yard freestyle at the NAIA Women's Swimming and Diving National Championships, with the 50 yard freestyle preliminaries being held Thursday morning at the Elkhart Aquatic Center in Elkhart, Ind.
Bosler, who posted a time of 24.79 in the 50 free, finished 28th -- posting a time that was better than 20 additional NAIA swimmers in doing so. Bosler beat out eight Mid-South Conference swimmers in the event -- including three from Cumberlands (Ky.), two swimmers each from Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and Indiana Wesleyan and one from Midway (Ky.). Bosler ultimately posted the fourth fastest time of any MSC swimmer in the event -- an impressive accomplishment considering the stacked field.
The junior from Westerville also outswam competitors from Jamestown (N.D.), Arizona Christian, Life (Ga.), Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), Savannah College of Art and Design (Ga.), St. Thomas (Fla.) and Ave Maria (Fla.) in the event.
Bosler, along with fellow teammate Katie McCafferty, are both in action tomorrow when the duo compete in the 100 yard breaststroke (Bosler) and the 100 yard backstroke and 400 yard individual medley (McCafferty). Preliminary action begins at 9 a.m. Friday morning. Bosler and or McCafferty will also compete again at 5 p.m. in Friday's finals if one or both advance out of the preliminary round.
