SSU VB wins second straight match, moves back above .500 with straight-set win over Alice Lloyd (25-12, 25-16, 25-14)

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Taking care of business in short order is always an ideal way to close out a conference match.

The volleyball program at Shawnee State certainly did that Friday evening against the Alice Lloyd Eagles' volleyball program -- as the Bears hit .286 as a team, posted 54 digs to the Eagles' 32, and forced Alice Lloyd into a -.010 attack percentage as a team in Shawnee State's 3-0 victory (25-12, 25-16, 25-14) in a River States Conference matchup that was held at Waller Gymnasium in Portsmouth.

Spreading the wealth

Throughout its straight set victory, Shawnee State trailed just three times over the entire match as the Bears' frontline, led by Haidyn Wamsley, Kylee Gifford, Whytney Faulkner and Camille McIntosh, were strong throughout.

The above trio of Wamsley, Gifford and Faulkner ultimately posted 10, eight and seven kills respectively with .348, .462, and .429 attack percentages in that order -- as Wamsley posted five of her 10 kills in the second set, Gifford nabbed four of her eight kills in the third set, and Faulkner collected three of her seven kills in the third and final stanza to help lead the Bears offensively.

McIntosh added in six kills herself as the freshman, alongside Faulkner, a fellow freshman, continue to show potential all-conference abilities at the head of Shawnee State's attack.

Makaela Lovely's 19 assists and Reagan Lewis' 15 passes set up Shawnee State's performance at the net.

Additional

Wamsley, Gifford and Faulkner combined for four out of Shawnee State's five blocks while Ava Jenkins posted 19 digs and Megan Steele, along with Brooke Bossert, added in nine and eight dives, respectively, to lead Shawnee State.
