Cisco, Elick lead Bears again at All-Ohio Championships

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Standout Shawnee State women's cross country runners Olivia Cisco and Jessica Elick were again on point during Friday evening's All-Ohio Championships, as Cisco's top-25 showing and Elick's top-60 time led the Shawnee State women's cross country program at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville.

Cisco, who continues building on a terrific season, finished 22nd overall in a massive 314-runner field by posting a 23:40.3, while Elick, who has put together an impressive sophomore campaign in her own right, collected a 57th-place time of 24:39.7 in the event.

In posting the above times, both individuals came within seven seconds or less of setting personal bests.

"Olivia placing inside the top-25 was a good day for her," Shawnee State Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Conner Flynn said. "Her and Jess continued to show their dependability running almost the same time as last meet, on a tougher course. Those two continue to show up each time out."

Behind the duo, Juniper Allen and Beth Middleton each obtained finishes inside the top-third of the field, as Allen finished 109th by running a 25:45.4 while Middleton nabbed a 25:47.7 to collect a 111th-place showing.

Amanda Salmons, who ran a 26:23.4, also posted a finish inside the top-150 by placing 139th, while Kirsten Evans just finished five spots outside of the top-150, placing 155th with a 26:42.8. Sydney Reed's 26:53.3 put Reed just 15 spots back of a top-150 finish herself, with Reed finishing 165th overall.

Natalie Brammer's 227th place showing rounded out the Shawnee State contingent.

The Shawnee State women's cross country program, along with the men's cross country program, will be back in action at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on Friday, Oct. 4 in Powell, Ohio -- followed by the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.

"We are looking forward to Louisville in two weeks," Flynn said. "The expectation of our program is progression, and these athletes understand that, as that will get us to our goals. Both the men and women are working very hard, and we are excited for what is to come."
