Brammer sets personal best, Smith also competes at Ohio Wesleyan Invitational
POWELL, Ohio -- In what will be a busy weekend for the women's cross country program at Shawnee State, the duo of Natalie Brammer and Miranda Smith saw action at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational Friday evening -- with Brammer nabbing a massive personal best time for herself at the Powell, Ohio-based event, which was held at Liberty Park.
In running the 6K meet, Brammer posted a strong personal effort by nabbing a 27:23.9 to finish 139th overall. Brammer, as a result, posted a personal best that was nearly 40 seconds better than her previous PR of 28:03.7.
Smith, who competed in her first-ever collegiate meet Friday, ran a 29:38.5 to finish 161st in the first meet for the Ashton, W. Va. native and Hannan High School alum.
The remaining seven Shawnee State women -- Olivia Cisco, Jessica Elick, Juniper Allen, Elizabeth Middleton, Kirsten Evans, Sydney Reed and Amanda Salmons -- will be in action in Saturday's Live in Louisville Cross Country Classic. Those seven harriers will run in the 12:45 p.m. Women's 5K Silver Race.
